Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - After a shutout win over the La Crosse Loggers on Thursday night, the Green Bay Bullfrogs (25-29, 8-11 Sec. Half) will play the final game of their two-game series against the Loggers (28-27, 7-13 Sec. Half) on Friday night at Joannes Stadium. Following Friday's game, the Bullfrogs will play nine games in eight days, with eight of those games coming on the road.
On Thursday night in Green Bay, Bullfrogs' starter, Nathan Disch (Jacksonville) won his third game of the season as the Bullfrogs won their second straight game with a 4-0 defeat of the Loggers. Disch threw six innings scoreless innings and allowed only three hits while striking out eight. Green Bay's bullpen completed the shut out by allowing only two hits and no runs to La Crosse over the final three innings. Dean Long (Emporia State) led the Bullfrogs offensively, going 2-for-3. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) recorded an RBI sacrifice fly while Ryan Howell (Chabot) had an RBI double for Green Bay on Friday.
Green Bay will now turn to their All-Star, Roberto Baroniel (Nova Southeastern), on the mound on Friday as they go for a series sweep of La Crosse. Baroniel will be making his tenth start of the season and owns a 4-2 record with a 2.39 ERA. His last appearance came on Tuesday in the All-Star game when he threw one scoreless inning and earned the win for the South Division All-Stars. Prior to that, Baroniel had won four of his last five starts and gave up only six earned runs in that same span. The six-foot-four, Miami, Florida native has struck out 36 batters while walking only 15 this season.
La Crosse will counter with Kelvan Pilot (Mesa Community College) on Friday night. Pilot, a six-foot-six right-hander, will be making his first appearance with La Crosse this season. From Scottsdale, Arizona, Pilot did not pitch for Mesa CC this past spring after redshirting the season.
First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Joannes Stadium.
