Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release

Alexandria, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors lost a close one in extra innings to the visiting Mankato Moondogs.

The Anchors coasted early, scoring five runs in the first two innings. In the first, singles by Jeremy Hyde and Dalton Leuschke would knock in the first three runs of the game. In the second, solo shots by Kris Goodman and Ricky Sanchez would make runs four and five for the Anchors.

The Moondogs would fight back however, scoring one run in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice from Brinn Bell. In the fifth inning, three runs would score on an RBI groundout by Peter Maris and a two RBI, two out single by Levi Scott that would leave Mankato trailing 5-4 entering the bottom of the fifth.

After good relief appearances by Alexandria's Sean Terres and Austin Smith, Mankato would get a solo home run from Tanner Rockwell to tie the game in the eighth.

That tie would take the game into extra innings and would last until the eleventh inning. A solo home run courtesy of Eric Schenck would give Mankato a 6-5 lead.
