
Mallards Downed by Chinooks in Madison

Madison, WI - July 25, 2014. The Madison Mallards (12-10, 30-25) fell in game two of their home-and-home series against the Lakeshore Chinooks (16-3, 40-13) tonight at the "Duck Pond" by a score of 4-1.
The Chinooks broke open the scoring in the third after Chinooks right fielder Brett Siddall (Canisius) singled to drive in Ryan Larson (Florida).
Mallards first baseman Pete Alonso (Florida) responded with a deep shot in the fourth, his 14th home run of the year to tie the game 1-1. With that blast, Alonso is now the Mallards single season leader in home runs. He finished 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The Chinooks came back with two runs in the top of the fifth on a two RBI single from second baseman Jake Noll (Florida Gulf Coast), followed by a solo home run from Chinooks left fielder Connor McKay (Kansas) in the sixth to go up 4-1.
Mallards starter A.J. Bogucki (North Carolina) tossed six complete innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out five in the loss.
Chinooks starter Sterling Koerner (Florida Gulf Coast) went five innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three in his first start of the year.
Tomorrow, the Mallards begin a two game series at the "Duck Pond" against the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 6:05 pm.
There will be a Diamond Center Diamond Dig post-game, and the game will feature an Ice Cream Scoop Giveaway and Post-Game Fireworks presented by Charter Communications. There will also be a Zimbrick Honda Free Kids Clinic from 10 am to noon.
