Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, WI. - The host Green Bay Bullfrogs (9-16) got off to the early offensive start in the opening frame, but were held scoreless for the remainder of regulation in a 4-1 defeat to the visiting Rockford Rivets (14-11) from Joannes Stadium Saturday evening. The Frogs were unable to capitalize on additional opportunities, leaving 12 total runners on base.

Both teams return to action tomorrow for a Sunday matinee against the Rivets to conclude the two-game series. First pitch is slated for a 1:05 p.m. start in Titletown.

The Bullfrogs jumped on Rivets ace Cole Bellair early with a RBI double from Maris scoring Munoz after his lead-off single to put Green Bay in front 1-0. The Frogs were kept off the board for the rest of regulation.

Rockford answered with three runs in the third inning on a wild pitch and a two-run single by third baseman Justin Walker to grab the 3-1 advantage. The Rivets added an insurance tally on another base-knock from Walker to stretch the lead out to 4-1.

Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) led the Bullfrogs offense, finishing 2-for-5 with a double and single. Jake Munoz (Sophomore, Univ. of San Francisco) went 1-for-3 with one run scored and two walks. Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) also was 1-for-3, while Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) and Rudy Aguilar (Sophomore, St. Johns) both contributed a 1-for-4 effort at the dish.

Bellair earned the win on the mound for Rockford, improving to 4-1. Green Bay starting pitcher Jason Applegate (Junior, Villanova) took the loss, falling to 1-2. Bullfrogs relief pitcher Kenny Carrillo (Sophomore, Golden West College) was solid in relief of Applegate. Carrillo posted three scoreless innings with no hits allowed and four strikeouts. Rivets reliever Nolan Gazouski notched his second save of the season.
