Bullfrogs Comeback Falls Short against Rafters

Green Bay, Wis. - A crazy game between the Bullfrogs and the Rafters end in a 7-4 victory for the Rafters. Both teams combined for seven runs in the eighth inning. The loss will snap the Bullfrogs two game winning streak and their record now stands at 12-19.
Ethan Westphal (Central Missouri) got the start tonight for the Bullfrogs. In his first start, Westphal went six innings and gave up three runs on six hits. He ran into trouble in the second inning as he gave up a three run home run to Jake Lumley (Canisius), the only bad pitch that Westphal made all day. Chris Cooper (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) excelled once again as he threw seven scoreless innings against the Bullfrogs.
In the eighth inning the game really opened up as seven runs came across to score in the inning. The Bullfrogs, chasing three runs, were able to tie the ballgame with four hits in the inning. Laren Eustace (Indiana) and Randell Kanemaru (Columbia) both had two out RBI singles. Heading into the bottom half of the eighth, Logan Elliot (Mississippi State) came on to pitch. The defense fell apart in the eighth as three errors plagued the Bullfrogs. Four runs came around to score in the inning. The Rafters would hold to the lead in the ninth and picked up the victory.
Offensively the Bullfrogs were led by Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne) as the right fielder had four hits in tonight's ballgame. Kanemaru had three hits in the ballgame to go along with one RBI.
Bullfrogs will send Austin Hancock to the mound tomorrow as they will face the Rafters once again. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
