Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - It's opening week in the Northwoods League, presented by Edvest and the Bullfrogs return home to finish their two game series against the Lakeshore Chinooks. Game one was a wild ride for the Bullfrogs, two different fog delays and a darkness warning ended the night early.
Clayton Uselman got the start for the Bullfrogs last night. He went three and a third giving up two runs before being replaced by Connor Jackson. Jackson pitched two thirds of an inning before the first fog delay came into effect. The fog delay lasted almost two and a half hours. Classic weather delay antics by the players were the highlights of the delay. Once the fog cleared it was time for more baseball.
As the Bullfrogs took the field in the bottom of the fifth, they were down two to one after Laren Eustace scored Marcus Shoemaker on a ground out to short. Peter Castillo came on to pitch for the Bullfrogs and threw up a zero on the scoreboard. The action wouldn't last long as the dreaded fog made its way back on the field during the top of the 6th. During the second fog delay, the lights on the stadium were shut off due to a city ordinance. The game was called due to fog and darkness.
The Bullfrogs send Stuart Springer to the mound tonight. Springer is a redshirt junior from St. Edwards. The southpaw will be making his first appearance for the Bullfrogs after arriving in Green Bay a couple of days ago. He had a stellar season for the Hilltoppers, winning 10 games and having a 2.20 ERA. The Bullfrogs also bring in two new additions to the team today as Jonah Davis, UC-Berkeley, and Jesse Berardi, St. John's, will be activated today. Davis will see time in the outfield for the Bullfrogs while Berardi will play middle infield.
First pitch is set for 4:05pm. Gates open 3:05pm. Each fan in attendance will received a Wisconsin Dells Coupon Book presented by Delton Grand.
