Green Bay Rockers News Release

Mequon, Wisc. - The visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (3-6) were held to a season-low one total hit in a tightly contested 4-1 road loss against the host Lakeshore Chinooks (5-4) from Kapco Park in Mequon, WI. The Bullfrogs were held without a base runner until the seventh inning and without a hit until the eighth due to a terrific performance from Chinooks starting pitcher Kevin Tibor.

The Bullfrogs return to Joannes Stadium tomorrow evening for the series finale of a two-game home-and-home series with the Lakeshore Chinooks in Titletown. First pitch is slated for a 6:35 p.m. start. A live video webcast of the contest can be streamed online through the official Northwoods League website. Fans can also listen to the live audio broadcast on WOCO Radio (107.1 FM, 1260 AM) or online at WOCO.Caster.FM.

After two scoreless innings from both squads, Lakeshore broke through in the bottom of the third with a RBI double by right fielder Connor Kimple and sacrifice fly from designated hitter Cole Turney to put the Chinooks in front 2-0.

The Chinooks added another pair in the sixth inning, starting with a RBI double by third baseman Sebastian Holte-Mancera and run-scoring by second baseman Takahiro Yamada to stretch the advantage out to 4-0.

Green Bay ended the perfect game bid by Tibor in the top of the seventh inning on a lead-off walk from Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech). The Bullfrogs broke up the no-hitter in the top of the eighth inning on a RBI double by Rudy Aguilar (Sophomore, St. Johns) scoring Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) to cut the deficit down to 4-1. However, the Frogs were unable to string together a big rally and were retired in order in the ninth to give Lakeshore the three-run victory.

Tibor earned the win, improving to 1-1. Green Bay starting righty Jake Zatopek (Freshman, Incarnate Word) took the loss, falling to 0-2. Chinooks righty Layne Looney tallied his first save of the season. Bullfrogs reliever Lawson Zenner (Sophomore, Wayne State College) was solid out of the bullpen, tossing 4 1/3 innings with two earned runs allowed on four hits and three strikeouts.
