
Bulldogs Topped 3-2 in Overtime by Barons

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons 3-2 in overtime in front of 6,539 fans at Copps Coliseum on Sunday. Alexandre Giroux scored in the extra frame to win the game for the Barons.
The 'Dogs opened the scoring at 10:01 of the first frame. David Desharnais received the puck from Aaron Palushaj before skating towards the goal. Desharnais deked past a Barons defender before using a backhand-to-forehand deke and depositing the puck behind Oklahoma City starting goaltender Martin Biron.
The Barons tied the game 1-1 at 6:52 of the second stanza. Philippe Cornet won a faceoff, sending the puck back to Shawn Belle. Belle dished a pass over to Jeff Petry, who blasted a shot past the blocker of Hamilton starting goaltender Robert Mayer. Colin McDonald gave Oklahoma City a 2-1 lead at 16:04. Belle hammered a shot from the point after receiving the puck from Petry. McDonald got his stick on the puck, redirecting it past Mayer and into the back of the net.
The Bulldogs tied the game 2-2 at 4:02 of the final frame with a power-play goal. Ben Maxwell sent the puck to Desharnais who skated to the front of the net before feeding a pass across the crease to Brendon Nash. Nash tapped the puck past Biron and into the net.
With the teams tied at 2-2, the game went into an extra frame. Alexandre Giroux collected the puck in front of the Hamilton net before snapping a shot past Mayer and over the goal line to give the Barons the win.
The 'Dogs will host the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, October 27th for a 7:00 p.m. game at Copps Coliseum before welcoming the Toronto Marlies to Copps Coliseum for a game on Friday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. All pre-game shows during 'Dogs home games will be broadcast live from the main concourse at Copps Coliseum.
