Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and the Bulldogs Foundation announced today that the United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton would be wrapping up their 2011 Campaign when the 'Dogs take on the St. John's IceCaps on Friday, February 17th, 2012 at 7:30pm at Copps Coliseum. As part of this "Evening of Celebration", the United Way will make their final 2011 Campaign achievement announcement during the first period of the game.
The Hamilton Bulldogs and the United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton formed a community partnership earlier this year. The Bulldogs Foundation participated in a text giving fundraiser with the organization, encouraging mobile users to text 'uwaybh' to 45678 to make a $10 donation. The Bulldogs also showed their support to the 2011 Campaign by collecting pennies for United Way's Pennies for Change fundraiser, providing tickets to United Way funded program recipients and now finally, hosting the organizations' "Evening of Celebration" and final campaign announcement.
"The Bulldogs are truly a community team - we love being here in Hamilton and we love giving back to our fans and supporters," said Brian Lewis, Bulldogs Foundation Executive Director. "Partnering with United Way was a natural fit for us, and we're excited to be a part of the big reveal."
The United Way 2011 Campaign kicked off in September with a goal to raise $6,999,999.99.
"We remain cautiously optimistic that we will reach our goal, with just over one week left in the campaign," said Len Lifchus, United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton CEO, with a smile. "The United Way family - our Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet and Chairs, staff, volunteers and our fantastic donors - have been working exceptionally hard to get us there. We cannot wait to announce our final campaign results on February 17th."
The Bulldogs will host the Albany Devils on Friday, February 10th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum before travelling to Toronto to take on the Marlies on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. The 'Dogs return to Copps Coliseum on Sunday, February 12th, 2012 to battle the Texas Stars at 3 p.m. All Hamilton Bulldogs games can be heard live on AM 820 CHAM or on www.hamiltonbulldogs.com, or seen live on www.ahllive.com beginning with the Pioneer Pre-Game Show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Friday night's game will also be broadcasted live on Cable 14 (check your local listings).
