Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - Duncan Milroy's goal and assist wasn't enough as the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 4-2 decision to the Manitoba Moose on Thursday night at MTS Centre. With the loss, Hamilton's record drops to 22-16-1-1.

The Moose jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first period. Brandon Reid opened the scoring with his 11th tally of the season just 1:34 into the frame on the power play. Manitoba extended its lead to 2-0 at the 12:53 mark with a shorthanded goal courtesy of Jason Jaffray.

At 5:48 of the middle-stanza, Nathan Smith posted his ninth goal of the season to give the Moose a 3-0 lead. Jannik Hansen added his second assist of the night on the goal.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard at 3:16 of the third period when Michael Lambert walked over the blueline and let a hard shot go that beat Moose netminder Drew MacIntyre high on the blocker-side. Duncan Milroy and Ryan O'Byrne added helpers on the goal.

Shaun Heshka restored Manitoba's three-goal lead with his second tally of the season. The goal made the score 4-1 and came at 12:12 of the final frame.

Milroy then registered his team-leading 17th goal of the season at 14:08 of the third period on the power play. MacIntyre stopped Milroy's initial shot but he corralled his own rebound and made no mistake to pull the 'Dogs as close as they would come at 4-2. Ryan O'Byrne picked up an assist on the goal, his second of the game, and officially recorded his first-career AHL multi-point game.

The Bulldogs were 1-for-6 with the man-advantage, while the Moose went 1-for-5 on the power play.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow night (Friday, January 12th) at 8:30 p.m. in a rematch against the Manitoba Moose at the MTS centre. Fans can listen to the game on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, 820 CHAM "The Legend," beginning with the Park's Furniture Pre-Game Show at 8:10 p.m. Fans can also listen or watch at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com by clicking on the 'B2 Networks' or '820 CHAM' icon on the 'Dogs website.
