WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Noah Welch from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Thursday.
Welch, 24, has recorded 17 points (5+12) in 18 games with the AHL Penguins this season, and carried a four-game point streak (2+6=8) into this week's action.
The 6-4, 212 pound blueliner has also appeared in 18 games with Pittsburgh this season, recording two points (1+1) and 20 penalty minutes.
The native of Brighton, MA, was voted a starter for the PlanetUSA Team, which will take on the Canadian All-Stars at the 2007 RBK Hockey All-Star Classic, scheduled to be held January 28-29 at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins return to action this Friday night when they visit the Chicago Wolves at 8:30pm. They travel to Grand Rapids to take on the Griffins on Saturday night, before returning home to face the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:05pm.
