Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are back at home this weekend for two of their biggest home games of the season against the top two teams in the CHL! We've also got great events on tap at both Friday's game against the Colorado Eagles and Saturday's contest versus the Texas Brahmas, so don't miss out - CenturyTel Center is the place to be this weekend!

The Mudbugs will take on the Colorado Eagles in a huge Northern Conference matchup on Friday, but that's not the only reason it will be a special night. The team will also honor former player and current Assistant Coach Trevor Buchanan by retiring his number 27 jersey prior to the game against the Eagles. Buchanan (who goes by the nickname "Buck") becomes just the second player in franchise history to have his number retired by the team, joining Dale Henry's #19 in the CenturyTel Center rafters. To help celebrate Buchanan's jersey retirement, we'll also be hosting special "Buck Night" pricing at the concession stands. From the time the arena doors open at 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, hot dogs and soft drinks will cost just a buck! Bring the family early to get $1.00 hot dogs and sodas and get comfortable for a memorable night.

The Colorado Eagles have been the CHL's top team nearly all season long, and it always makes for a thrilling game when the Mudbugs and Eagles step on the ice together. Bossier-Shreveport has come up short in both of its previous meetings with Colorado this season, so Friday night is the ‘Bugs' last chance to top the Eagles in this showdown of Northern Conference powers. Both teams are headed for the playoffs and will be looking to for some late-season momentum in this contest.

Saturday night the Mudbugs will play host to the Texas Brahmas, presented by Whataburger. As the ‘Bugs take on their bitter rivals from the Southern Conference, we will also be celebrating this year's Education Night. Join us in welcoming school groups from throughout the Ark-La-Tex as they converge on CenturyTel Center for a great night of CHL hockey this Saturday night. If your school group of students and/or staff hasn't planned their trip to the game yet, it's not too late to reserve a Mudbugs group night! Contact one of our Account Managers at 318-752-BUGS to make your school group a part of this year's Mudbugs Education Night. After Saturday night's game, you will also have the opportunity to lace up the skates yourself with a public skating session. Cost is $6.00 per person to skate and tickets are available at the Mudbugs information table on the concourse during the game.

The Mudbugs beat the Brahmas 4-1 the last time the teams played, breaking Texas' six-game winning streak against Bossier-Shreveport. The ‘Bugs have earned points in four of eight games against Texas so far this year with two games remaining in the season series. The Brahmas have a commanding lead for the top spot in the Southern Conference and are currently tied with Colorado for the CHL's best record. The Mudbugs will no doubt be looking to get a big victory and send their rivals back to Texas with a loss in the Brahmas' final visit to the CenturyTel Center this season.

The puck drops at 7:05 pm for both games, and tickets are available now. Individual seats are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700, while group and flex ticket packages are available through the Mudbugs office inside CenturyTel Center or by calling 318-752-BUGS.

Tonight the Mudbugs are in Oklahoma City to close out a three-game road trip against the Blazers. The ‘Bugs and Blazers, who are separated by just three points in the standings, meet for the fourth and final time this season at the Ford Center tonight. Bossier-Shreveport has gone 2-0-1 against Oklahoma City this season, and a win in tonight's game could put the Mudbugs five points ahead of the Blazers in the Northeast Division standings. Opening faceoff is set for 7:10 pm with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 on AM 710 KEEL. The game will also be shown live online on the CHL Network.
