The Buffalo Bisons beat the Gwinnett Braves 2-1 at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY Sunday afternoon in the final game of the four-game series. The Bisons took three of the four games in the series and sent the G-Braves to their third straight loss. The Braves drop to a season low nine games below .500 at 43-52.
It Was Over When: Jorge Padilla belted an RBI double to right field scoring Luis Hernandez from first base. The RBI double broke a 1-1 tie and would be the only other run the Bisons would need. It was also an unearned run, as the Braves committed two more errors in the game to give them five in the last two days.
Braves Beat: On the Mound: LHP Jose Ortegano (2-7) suffers another loss going 5.0 IP wiht 5H, 2R (1ER), 1BB and 6K. Lee Hyde pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits and a walk with one strikeout. Michael Broadway, in his first Triple-A appearance since being called up from Double-A Mississippi, worked a scoreless eighth.
At the plate: The Braves only could muster three hits on the day. Matt Young was 1-for-3. Young doubled with one out in the fourth and scored on a single to right by Diory Hernandez. Hernandez had the other two hits in the game and finished 2-for-3.
The opposition: On the Mound: RHP Dillon Gee (9-5) gets the win. Dillon went 8.0 IP and finished with 3H, 1R/ER, 1BB and 8K. Michael O'Connor earned the save.
At the plate: Padilla had three of the Bisons' seven hits including the game winner. He was 3-for-4. Luis Hernandez, Valentino Pascucci and Mike Cervenak each had a single. Andy Green had an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth that tied the game at one.
On Deck: The Braves open a four game series against the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees Monday night in Scranton. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. LHP Mike Minor (2-0, 1.42 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves. The Yankees will start RHP Ivan Nova (7-2, 3.21ERA).
