Charleston RiverDogs News Release
(Charleston-SC) â Buddy Biancalana, RiverDogs' manager in 2001 and 2002 will return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park Friday, now at the helm of the Lakewood BlueClaws. The RiverDogs and BlueClaws will meet in a four-game series beginning Friday night.
Known for his unconventional managing style, the RiverDogs finished a combined 124-152 (.449) in Biancalana's two seasons in Charleston. His Phil Jackson-type approach to coaching focuses on getting players to reach their true potential by avoiding distractions on the field.
The RiverDogs will make Biancalana feel welcome Friday with crowd breathing exercises and the burning of incense in the park. Visualization techniques should help the fans relax and see the game and the Sprint Friday Fireworks afterwards more clearly.
A former major league shortstop, best known for his role in the 1985 Kansas City Royals World Championship, Biancalana played six seasons in the big leagues, hitting a career .205 but a solid .278 in the '85 Series.
The four-game series with Buddy's BlueClaws begins Friday at 7:05 pm. Tickets are available in person at the RiverDogs Box Office, by phone at (843) 577-3647 and online at etix.com.
