Bucs Player Commits to Colorado College

Urbandale (IA) The Des Moines Buccaneers are proud to announce that defenseman Duggie Lagrone has committed to play his collegiate hockey at Colorado College.

The 17 year old native of Plano, TX is in his first season of Junior A hockey and has one assist through five games played. He was selected by the Buccaneers in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft and previously played for the Dallas Ice Jets midget program.

At Colorado College he will play for Scott Owens, who served as the head coach of the Buccaneers from 1995-1999 before accepting the same position with the Tigers. Colorado College is a Division I program and a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, but will be shifting to the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference beginning in 2012-2013.

There are 17 USHL alumni who are on the Colorado College roster this season including former Buccaneer Peter Stoykewich.

Along with Lagrone, the Buccaneer forward Matt Hansen is also committed to Colorado College.

The Des Moines Buccaneers will be playing their 32nd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League beginning in the fall of 2011. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
