Bucks Win Streak Snapped, Fall Back to Fourth

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Texas Brahmas 4-0 Friday night at the NYTEX Sports Center. The Bucks three-game winning streak came to an end as they fall to 22-16-8 (52 points) and back into fourth place in the Southern Conference. Laredo is now one point behind Texas for third.

Brett Jaeger stopped all 28 shots he faced in the Brahmas net as he improved to 6-1 in his last seven starts. The Bucks have been shutout five times on the season including twice by the Brahmas.

The Brahmas (24-17-5, 53 points) jumped out in front of the Bucks early as they took a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Texas is 13-1-1 in their last 15 home games.

Matt Pierce put Texas up 1-0 just 2:05 into the game when he picked off a pass in Bucks territory and scored from the slot. Pierce was making his Brahmas debut as he was acquired in a trade Monday from Mississippi.

Texas went up 2-0 with 8:16 left in the first when Jason Deitsch scored a power-play goal from the top of the slot. The tally was Deitsch's ninth of the season.

Jordan Cameron struck with 6:27 left in the first period to put the Brahmas up 3-0.

Laredo outshot Texas 7-6 in the first period.

Neither team was able to score in the second period giving Texas a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Both the Bucks and Brahmas put up nine shots in the second period.

Luke Sellars scored a power-play goal with 6:18 left in the game to make it 4-0 Texas.

Laredo outshot Texas 12-4 in the third period and held a 28-19 shot advantage in the game.

Kevin Desfosses stopped 15 of 19 shots he faced for the Bucks as they fall to 2-2 this season against the Brahmas.

The Bucks are at Rio Grande Valley Saturday night at the State Farm Arena. Game time is 7:35pm.
