
Bucks Sneak By Oilers 4-3

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Tulsa Oilers 4-3 Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks win coupled with the Texas Brahmas loss Saturday, puts the Bucks 10 points back of the Brahmas in the Southeast Division. Laredo took two of three this weekend to improve to 26-15-4 (56pts).
Vincent Zaore scored his first goal of the season with 4:58 left in the third period, to give the Bucks a 4-3 lead. Zaore's goal came off of a wrap around shot past Kevin St. Pierre.
The Oilers would pull St. Pierre for the final minute of the game to try and get the equalizer, but the Bucks defense stood tall to preserve the win. St Pierre stopped 37 of 41 shots for Tulsa.
The Bucks are now 12-5-4 in one-goal games this season.
Andrew Martin set aside 20 of 23 Oilers shots to pick up his first win with the Bucks.
The Bucks (19-5-1 at home) jumped out in front of the Oilers 7:37 into the game, when Rick Kozak took the puck from behind the Tulsa net and sent a wrap around past Kevin St. Pierre. The goal was Kozak's 20th goal of the season, with Jason Dixon (22) picking up the assist.
Laredo is now 17-5 when scoring first this season.
Tulsa (12-27-6) would tie the game at 1-1 10:18 into the first when Sean Collins took a pass at the right side of the crease and poked it in.
Laredo would take a 2-1 lead with 4:25 left in the first period, when Darryl Smith scored a power-play goal from the right circle. The strike was Smith's 26th of the season, with Serge Dube picking up the assist.
The Bucks would increase their lead to 3-1 with 2:59 left in the first, when Jason Dixon deflected a loose puck past St. Pierre from the right side of the crease. Dixon picked up his ninth goal of the year, with Dube tallying his second assist of the night, and 24th of the year.
Laredo outshot Tulsa in the first period 18-12.
Tulsa cut the Laredo lead to 3-2 at 7:08 into the second, when Jerme Tendler knocked in a power-play goal.
Laredo outshot Tulsa 8-5 in the second period.
The Oilers tied the game 3-3 at the 6:40 mark of the third period, when Tendler scored his second of the night.
Laredo outshot Tulsa 40-23 for the game.
The Bucks are now 5-0 all-time against the Oilers.
