Bucks Snap Losing Streak

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, defeated the Texas Brahmas 4-3 in overtime.

The Laredo Bucks concluded their roadtrip as they visited the Texas Brahmas Friday night. The Bucks jumped to an early lead for the second straight game as A.J. Hau scored at 3:31 in the first period. This was Hau's second goal since his Laredo debut last night. Kyle Mariani and Ryan Sparling assisted on the goal. The Brahmas would tie the game at 1-1, when Brendon Hodge banged in the puck at 12:03. The Bucks outshot the Brahmas 12-9 in the first period of play.

The first half of the second period had relatively slow play until Adam Rivet scored his 5th goal of the year. The wrist shot from the high slot gave the Bucks at 2-1 lead at 10:09. Rusty Masters earned an assist on the point. The Brahmas tied the game at 2-2, when Jacques Perreault scored on a delayed penalty call at 13:23. The Brahmas outshot the Bucks 7-5 in the second, but the Bucks were outshooting the Brahmas 17-16 in the game.

Ryan Rondeau made several key saves to keep the game tied during the first two minutes of play in the third. The Laredo Bucks had their first powerplay opportunity of the game at 3:02, but were unable to convert. The Brahmas took the lead at 6:52 when Chad Woollard was able to score on a 2-1. The Bucks would tie the game 3-3 at 15:55, when Ryan Sparling scored from Justin Styffe and A.J. Hau. Regulation would come to a close with both teams tied at 3-3. It only took 35 seconds into the extra frame before Mark Nebus found the net from Todd Griffith giving the Bucks a 4-3 victory over the Brahmas.
