Bees' Win Streak Snapped, Fall 6-4 to Arizona

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (8-6-0) allowed four second period goals as they fell to the Arizona Sundogs (6-7-3) by a 6-4 final on Friday night. The Bees received goals from four different players including the first of the season from Adam Bartholomay.

The Killer Bees took a 1-0 lead when Adam Bartholomay scored his first of the season at 4:21 of the first period. Bartholomay attempted a centering pass from the corner which was deflected by Arizona. Bartholomay picked up the loose puck and drove towards the net and backhanded a shot past Scott Reid. Jason Beeman and Charles Fontaine picked up the assists.

Arizona tied the game at one at the 14:16 mark as Patrick Schafer scored a shorthanded goal. Schafer deflected a shot from the point and was able to skate it all the way down the ice on a breakaway and scored with only one second left on the Bees power play.

The Sundogs would take control of the game with four goals in the second period and the period started on a sour note as Arizona scored a pair of goals only 30 seconds apart. Two defensive breakdowns allowed Tyler Matheson to find the back of the net at 1:52 and 2:12 of the second.

The Bees would get one goal back as Jason Dixon scored his third of the season at 5:56 after ripping a shot from the slot to the near side post.

Arizona would finish the second period with a second pair of goals at 15:11 and 18:01 marks. David Nimmo found the back of the net and was followed by Kyle Hood with a power play goal. The four goals scored by Arizona was the most of any one period against the Bees this season.

Zac Pearson would get a goal back for the Bees in the third at 6:28 of the third. For Pearson it was his sixth goal of the season. Aaron Lee picked up the assist.

Arizona would score another power play goal as Jean-Philipp Chabot deflected a shot in front however the Bees would return the favor as Tim Billingsley ripped a shot from the point for a power play goal of his own. For Billingsley it was his second goal of the season.

The game would end with the Bees attempting an extra attacker goal but unable to get one past Scott Reid and falling by a 6-4 final
