AMARILLO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Amarillo Gorillas 6-4 Saturday night at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bucks dropped their second straight game on their road trip, as they fall to 28-18-4 (60pts).

All-Star Rookie Darryl Smith scored two goals in the loss to lead the Bucks. Smith now has 30-goals on the season.

With the game tied at 2-2 entering the third period the Gorillas tallied four times, including two empty net markers to steal the win.

Laredo would take a 3-2 lead when Smith scored shorthanded, as he picked up a loose puck in the Gorillas end and shot it past an out of position A.J Bucchino. The goal was Smith's second of the night, and 30th of the season.

Then came the controversey.

The Gorillas scored two questionable power-play goals within 33 seconds of each other to take a 4-3 lead over the Bucks.

Travis Lisbeth knocked home a five-on-three power-play goal to tie the game at 3-3. It appeared that Sebastien Centomo was interfered with on Lisbeth's shot attempt, but the goal stood.

Then 33 seconds later Jake Morrisette scored a rebound goal past Centomo on a power-play, when it appeared that Centomo was interfered with again by the Gorillas. Both goals stood, and Amarillo had the lead.

Joe Gunther scored an empty-net goal with one minute left to give Amarillo a 5-3 lead.

Matt Miller then slammed home a shot from the left circle with 39 seconds left to cut the Gorillas lead to 5-4. The goal was Miller's 10th of the season.

The Bucks jumped out in front of the Gorillas 4:42 into the first period, when Darryl Smith took a pass from Alex Goupil on a two-on-one break and sent a backhander from the slot past A.J Bucchino. The goal was Smith's team-leading 29 of the year, with Goupil (27) and Serge Dube (28) picking up assists.

Laredo scored first for just the eighth time in their last 25 games.

The Bucks were outshot in the first period 9-7.

Amarillo would take a 2-1 lead when Stuart MacRae hammered in a pass at the right side of the crease. MacRae took a feed from Gunther.

Laredo would tie the game at 2-2 with 1:48 left in the second period, when Igor Agarunov banged in a shot from the slot off of a laser pass from Jason Dixon, who was behind the Gorillas net. The goal was Agarunov's 11th of the season, with Dixon (24) and Josh Bonar (2) picking up assists.
