Laredo wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Forward Jeff Bes found Margettie cutting backdoor with a great pass for a tip in tally just 45 seconds into the game. It was the 11th of the season for Margettie, and his first with the Bucks since being acquired in a trade on Monday. Lubbock rebounded to tie it as forward Bobby Brown snapped in a shot from the bottom of the left circle on a power play chance at 4:31. The Bucks retook the lead on a man advantage chance of their own. Forward Leo Thomas cut right side into the Lubbock zone and slipped a beautiful pass across to Bes who was cutting backdoor. Bes drilled the puck into the wide open net for his 17th of the season and he has goals in six of the last seven games. Lubbock tied it again as forward Patrick Levesque wristed home a shot high glove side at 8:14.
In the second period the Bucks once again cracked thru on the power play. Margettie fired a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that just snuck thru at 9:39 for his second of the game and a 3-2 Laredo lead.
Early in the third period Laredo again struck on the power play. Margettie swooped up the loose puck in the slot and completed the hat trick at 2:00. Lubbock got back in the game as forward Philippe Lacasse tipped in a shot for a power play goal at 10:22. Then Lubbock drew even on a five-on-three chance as forward Anders Strome snapped in a one-timer at 14:31.
Neither team was able to score down the stretch and the game head to overtime. In sudden death the Cotton Kings were called for too many men on the ice and Laredo took advantage of the power play chance. Margettie slipped a great pass from the top of the left circle in front to a wide open Thomas who pulled it from the forehand to the backhand and wrapped it into the net at 2:42 to win the game. It was the 15th of the season for Thomas. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Lubbock 4 in sudden death.
