Brandon, Manitoba - The Scotiabank 'Celebration of Hockey' program will be making an appearance at Westman Communications Group Place next week with the Stanley Cup®, Canada's oldest and most famous sports trophy.

Western Manitoba hockey fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Cup on Saturday, March 10th when the Brandon Wheat Kings play host to the visiting Saskatoon Blades in game two of their pivotal 2-game weekend series. Fans will be given permission to take their photo with the Cup before the game (Doors Open at 6:30 p.m.) and during the first and second intermission.

"Whether you play hockey or cheer from the stands, the Stanley Cup is a cultural symbol that all Canadians can proudly identify with," said Brian Boes Scotiabank Branch Manager, Brandon. "The Scotiabank Celebration of Hockey program gives Canadians a chance to get close to hockey's beloved icon. Scotiabank couldn't be happier to bring this opportunity to our customers and employees here in Brandon."

"The Stanley Cup is the most recognized professional sports trophy in Canada and an iconic piece of hockey history," said Rick Dillabough, Director of Sales and Sponsorship, Brandon Wheat Kings "We are huge hockey fans here in Brandon and I know the community will be eager to get up close and personal with the Cup. We are thankful to the Scotiabank Celebration of Hockey for making it happen."

While the Stanley Cup will be in Brandon on Saturday, March 10th, Winnipeg Blue Bombers' quarterback Buck Pierce will be attending the weekend series opener on Friday, March 9th.

The 30-year old signal caller, who has been with the Bombers since 2010, led the team to the Canadian Football League's Eastern Division Championship this past year.

Pierce has thrown for 13,162 yards and 68 touchdowns in his 7-year CFL career, which started seven years ago with the B.C. Lions. The 2011 season saw him record career-high numbers in many different categories including starts (16), completions (261), attempts (411), passing yards (3,348) and rushing yards (324).

Next week's series comes on the second to last weekend of regular season play.

This weekend, the 34-26-1-3 Wheat Kings will play host to Lethbridge on Friday night before traveling to Regina to meet the seventh place Pats on Saturday. Entering the weekend, Brandon trails Regina by one point and the sixth place Blades by two in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
