Game Preview

This Friday the Buccaneers will face of against Waterloo Blackhawks in the Buccaneer Arena. This will be the fourth tme the two teams will face each other. The Buccaneers have fallen short all three games; the last tme the fnal score was 8-6. This Friday the frst 2000 fans through the doors will receive a J.P. Parise bobblehead! The Buccaneers will be home again on Saturday to face the Indiana Ice. The teams will play each other for the ffh tme this season. The Buccaneers have lost all fve games against the Ice, the last tme they versed each other the fnal score was 5-6. The Bucs scored one goal in the frst period, and two in the second before the Ice responded with a goal. Des Moines scored once more in the second and once in the third before the Ice scored fve goals in the third period. Saturday is Family Fun Night; purchase four tckets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four autographs for $44. Be sure to stck around afer the game and skate with the players afer the game.

Week in Review

Thursday, January 29, the Buccaneers broke their losing streak and won against the Chicago Steel in overtme, 3-2. Josh Balch and Rocco Carzo both scored in the second period, and Andrew Himelson scored the game-winning goal at 2:13 in overtme.

The next night the Buccaneers traveled to Sioux City to face of against the Musketeers. The Bucs fell short with a fnal score of 2-3. Des Moines only had 27 shots on goal compared to the Musketeers 40. The Buccaneers scored their two goals in the third period, and goalie Michael Houser stopped 37 of 40 shots.

Saturday, January 31, the Buccaneers ventured to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena to play the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. The Bucs lost to the Roughriders 4-5 in front of a crowd of 3,034. Rocco Carzo scored goals in the second and third periods along with Josh Balch and Ryan Walters scoring in the third. The Buccaneers had seven penaltes.

Buccaneer Spotlight

Des Moines Buccaneers forward, Alex Chiasson will be playing in the All-Star game on Wednesday, February 4, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The game will be held in the Sioux Falls Arena and is the second tme the Stampede will host the All-Star game.

Kyle Okposo, former Buccaneers player, has scored four goals during the January 19 through January 31 games for the New York Islanders. Okposo played for the Buccaneers during the 2005-2006 season. Afer playing for Des Moines Okposo played for the University of Minnesota and was drafed by the New York Islanders in the frst round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draf.

Wedneday, February 11 - Indiana Ice vs. Des Moines Buccaneers - Date Night - Bring your date and you could win a perfect date package courtesy of the Buccaneers. The package will include a night's stay at the Sheraton West Des Moines.

Friday, February 20 - Green Bay Gamblers vs. Des Moines Buccaneers - Miller Lite Buc Beer Night presented by LAZER 103.3. Draws of Miller Lite will be $1 ALL NIGHT LONG!

Saturday, February 21 - Sioux City Musketeers vs. Des Moines Buccaneers - It's Jimmy Bufet Night at Buccaneer Arena! Head to Margaritaville with 1/2 price margaritas and 1/2 price cheeseburgers!
