Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

The Des Moines Buccaneers' four game winning streak, the longest current winning streak in the USHL, is on the line this weekend as they travel to Bloomington Illinois before heading home to take on a Western Conference foe.

Three days after the Bucs' goaltender Jan Ruzicka picked up a victory for Team East in the 4th annual USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, Des Moines will take on the Bloomington Thunder from U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday, January 15th. Bloomington is the organization the Buccaneers acquired forwards Will Harrison and Van Barr from earlier in the year and this will be the first of two matchups between the two teams with the rematch coming three days later on Monday, January 18th, back in Bloomington. While the Buccaneers are on a winning streak the Thunder come in to the game just as hot having won eight of their last ten games.

On Saturday, January 16th, the Buccaneers will be back in Buccaneer Arena hosting the Tri-City Storm. Des Moines has already seen Tri-City twice on the season, both at the Viaero Events Center in Kearney, Nebraska, and came away with victories each time. On Saturday, October 10th the Bucs won 4-2 and on Sunday, January 3rd Des Moines picked up a 3-2 shootout victory.

Saturday is Buc Night, featuring hot dogs, popcorn and sodas are each just one dollar, as well as Throwback 70's Night. For tickets call 278-2827.
