Buccaneer Alum Prokop Invited to NHL Development Camp

Des Moines Buccaneers alumnus John Prokop has received an invitation to development camp this summer with the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.

Prokop, a defenseman, played with the Buccaneers and was a double-digit scorer for two seasons, 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Prokop recently completed his freshman season at Union College and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team. The Wausau, Wisc. native appeared in every game in the 2022-23 season and led the team in scoring with 23 points (4-19-23) in 35 games and finished fifth on the team with 32 blocked shots. The defenseman earned ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week accolades twice last season.

Prokop is the first rookie defenseman in Union's Division I history to lead the team in scoring.

The Des Moines Buccaneers return to action in the fall of 2023, the 2023-24 schedule has not yet been announced. Season tickets are on sale at tickets.bucshockey.com with a variety of ticket packages ranging from 5 or 10 game packages to full season.
