Barrie Colts News Release
Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts today announced that Bryan Little has been named the team captain for the 2005-06 season.
Little, 17, takes over the captaincy for B.J. Crombeen, who has graduated into the Dallas Stars' system. The third year player becomes the second youngest captain in franchise history, next to Daniel Tkaczuk, who was named captain during the 1996-97 season.
Originally Barrie's third round pick (50th overall) during the 2003 OHL Priority Selection, Little has scored 70 goals through 126 games in his two seasons with the club. He scored 34 goals as a rookie in 2003-04, becoming the first 16-year old in franchise history to do so, and he was the recipient of the OHL Rookie of the Year Award. This past summer, Little attended the National Junior Development Camp in Whistler, BC with the hopes of making the National Junior Team that will represent Canada at the World Junior Championships in December.
"Bryan possesses a tremendous work ethic on and off the ice, and the type of lifestyle he commits himself too will hopefully be carried over into the rest of the hockey club," stated Director of Hockey Operations, Gregg Carrigan. "The players on this club look up to him on the ice, and like many other challenges thrown at him, he will certainly take this one on with open arms."
Little, a native of Cambridge, ON, has registered 70 goals to go along with 56 assists for 126 points in 126 OHL contests.
