
Battalion gets three quality draft picks

The Battalion enjoyed another successful day when the National Hockey League conducted its annual Entry Draft on July 30. Four players where chosen by NHL teams with defenceman Phil Oreskovic leading the way when he has selected in the third round by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Goaltender Daren Machesney was a fifth-round choice of the Washington Capitals, while forwards Luch Aquino and John Seymour were seventh-round selections of the New York Islanders and Los Angeles Kings respectively. During its fi rst seven seasons, the Battalion has been the most successful team in the OHL with 24 players selected in the NHL Entry Draft.
Mandarin Restaurants returns as the offi cial buffet restaurant of the Battalion and will host âMandarin Day at the Bunker' on Sunday, March 5, when Mississauga will be the visitors. The Mandarin is also a major sponsor of the Battalion's Team Fundraising Program and will participate in the School Fundraising initiative during the upcoming season. The Battalion's road exhibition game against the Mississauga IceDogs, which was originally scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 14, has been changed to a 7:00 start on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Westwood Arena.
