November 6, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Chilliwack Bruins News Release
The Chilliwack Bruins announced today that they will be wearing special jerseys during their November 11th game vs the Vancouver Giants as a tribute to service provided by military personnel around the world and to the legacy of Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys during the game. Chilliwack Bruins players will present the winning bidders with their jerseys immediately following the game at ice level.
The Bruins are also planning a special pre game ceremony which will pay tribute to current serving members of the military as well as those who have served in the past.
"It's an honor for us to pay tribute to all those who have served or who are currently serving in the military," said Bruins Director of Marketing Barry Douglas. "It's a privilege for us to recognize CFB Chilliwack and what it meant to this city for so many years."
Game time on Remembrance Day is 2pm.
