Chilliwack Bruins News Release

Chilliwack BC - The Chilliwack Bruins received fantastic goaltending in the third period by Matt Esposito to snuff out the Calgary Hitmen 2-1 before a near capacity crowd of 4636 at Prospera Centre. Overage forward Brandon Campos scored both goals for the Bruins on Saturday, scoring on a power play rebound late in the first period and then scoring on a great second effort down low in front of the Hitmen net early in period number two. Ian Duval scored the only goal for the Hitmen, opening the scoring in the game on the power play in the first period.

But it was Esposito that saved the heroics for the third period. Calgary outshot the Bruins 16-2 in period three, but ESPO stood tall and stopped them all, preserving the win. Esposito picks up his league leading 7th win of the season. Taking the loss for the Hitmen is Martin Jones, who falls to 4-2 on the season.

Next game for the Bruins will be a Global Cup showdown versus the Vancouver Giants Sunday afternoon in Chilliwack. Game time is 5:00 pm.
