ABERDEEN, SD - The Bruins scored one goal in each of the three periods to take down the Aberdeen Wings and stop their losing streak at four games with a 3-1 win on Friday night at Odde Ice Center.
In a first period that saw the Bruins outshoot the Wings 18-4, Dawson DiPietro opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 18:15 as he dove to deflect a Gilbert Gabor pass behind Aberdeen goaltender Peter Thome. Marcus Karlstrom also collected an assist, his first Bruins point.
In the second period, Jan Stefka capitalized on an Aberdeen turnover and backhanded a puck between the legs of Thome at the 7-minute mark to make it 2-0 Bruins. Austin Rueschhoff extended his point streak to four games with an assist. With under two minutes remaining, Aberdeen's Kevin Fitzgerald buried a Tucker DeYoung rebound to cut the lead in half.
In the third, the Bruins held the Wings to only three shots and put the game away with Gabor's empty netter at 19:10, from Miha Zajc and Zach Kennedy. Kris Carlson stopped 16 of 17 shots for his 4th win.
The Bruins will go for the sweep of Aberdeen with a 7:15 faceoff on Saturday night.
