
Bruins Shut Out Wings to Move Back into First Place

AUSTIN, MN - Michael Piehler scored his first two NAHL goals while Kris Carlson made 29 saves as the Bruins won for the third straight Friday at Riverside Arena in a 3-0 shutout over the Aberdeen Wings.
William Riedell, forced into a forward role due to Bruins injuries and suspensions, scored his 2nd goal of the season at 4:35, taking a feed from Dawson DiPietro and backhanding home his 2nd goal of the season for a 1-0 Bruins lead. Michael Piehler followed with a powerplay goal at 12:30, set up by Riedell and also Evan Cholak. Piehler sat on the doorstep and cashed a Riedell rebound for his first NAHL goal. As part of a 17 shot first period, the Bruins led 2-0.
Piehler scored another powerplay goal in the 2nd at 5:19. deflecting a Marcus Karlstrom shot. Paul O'Connor had a secondary assist. Kris Carlson did the rest, stopping all 29 Aberdeen shots for his 12th win and 2nd shutout. By virtue of Minot's loss to Bismarck, the Bruins move back into a first place tie with the Minotauros at 31 points. Austin will go for the sweep of the Wings tomorrow night at 7:05.
