Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN - In a defensive showcase, the Johnstown Tomahawks shut out the New Jersey Titans 1-0 Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
Tomahawks forward Tommy Horn broke a scoreless tie early in the first period with his sixth of the season, beating Titans netminder Spencer Wright. The goal was assisted by Drew Doyon and Kelly O'Brien.
Johnstown and New Jersey exchanged opportunities during the rest of the first period, but the score remained 1-0.
From there, the Johnstown defense went to work as did Tomahawks goaltender Ryan Glander.
The second period brought zero goals as the Titans and Johnstown fire pucks on net but both goaltenders stood tall, not letting a puck into the back of the net.
The third period was tight-checking and both offenses were kept away from the goal-scoring department. Glander and the Tomahawks shut down the Titans attack, holding New Jersey to 20 shots on goal.
In the victory, Johnstown tossed 30 shots on net and went 0-for-5 on the man advantage. New Jersey also was scoreless on the power play.
The Tomahawks continue their three-game series against the New Jersey Titans Saturday Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. NHL legend and NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick will be on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck and sign autographs. For tickets, call 1-800-745-3000 or visit the War Memorial box office.
