Bruins ready for Manchester

The Providence Bruins and Manchester Monarchs play the fifth game of their 10-game season series on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:05 p.m., with the Bruins looking for their first win of the season against the Atlantic Division's top team. The Bruins are 0-4-0-0 against Manchester this season, which leads the AHL with 181 goals scored, and has surrendered a league-low 105 goals. The Bruins will be looking to continue their recent surge up the division standings, which has seen them win four of their last six games, while taking nine of a possible 12 points. Friday's game will feature two of the AHL's most power play units going head-to-head. Providence is tied for the league lead at 21.3%, and leads the league on home ice (28.4%). Manchester ranks fourth overall, clicking at a 20.0% success rate.

Providence goaltender Hannu Toivonen will be looking to build off a weekend in which he posted back-to-back shutouts over Hartford and Worcester, respectively. The 20-year-old Finn's efforts were recognized by his winning the CCM Vector AHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending February 6. Toivonen, 19-14-3, is tied for the AHL lead with six shutouts this season, and now ranks second in franchise history with eight in 75 games. Toivonen ranks ninth in the AHL with a 2.11 GAA and ranks sixth with a .929 save percentage, and with 1,027 saves.
