
Bruins lose to Bobcats

Austin Bruins News Release
The Austin Bruins traveled 527 miles to Bismarck North Dakota to battle the Bobcats. Period number one from the VFW Sports Center was a solid pace for both squads. Austin was able to capitalize on their first Power Play of the night as John Simonson scored his 28th career goal, assists went to Jay Dickman and Cody Dixon. Austin outshot Bismarck 17-11 in the first period and led 1-0. The second period the Bruins would not back down. The Black and Yellow added another Power Play goal this time it was Cody Dixon assisting was Brandon Wahlin and Jay Dickman. The Bobcats were able to cut the lead in half with a Shane Omdahl goal. Austin answered back as the Bruins Captain Nolan Kirley scored his first goal of the season assisting was Nate Mondry and Mike Bond. After two periods of play Austin led 3-1 despite being outshot 29-24. The final period Bismarck was able to score as nick Lehr was under a couple of Bobcats when the goal crossed the line. The Bobcats than capitalized on a Power Play goal with just a couple of minutes left in the third. With no conclusion after 60 minutes of hockey the game went to overtime. With 1:22 left in the overtime Bismarck was charged with a two many men on the ice. The Bruins could not capitalize on the 4-3. With no conclusion after the Overtime the game went to a shootout. The Bobcats were able to win in the shootout as Shane Omdahl scored the winner. Austin will continue play tomorrow night at the VFW you can listen to the Broadcast at AM 1480 KAUS.
