Bulls Ride into Corpus Christi to Start Series Saturday Night

October 19, 2012 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Amarillo Bulls take their six game winning streak south starting tomorrow (Saturday) night when they begin a two games series against the Corpus Christi IceRays at American Bank Center. The face off on Saturday is 7 pm and then it will be a quick turnaround for a 3 pm start on Sunday.

The Bulls have the highest active win streak in the league with the Austin Bruins, a team they faced at the recent showcase, with five victories in a row. What makes this streak a little different than others that the Bulls have enjoyed in the past is that they have done it at both ends of the ice.

In their last 21 periods of hockey, (7 games in total), the Bulls have yielded just nine goals in regulation time. Those numbers have moved the Bulls into second place in goals against. Amarillo is not giving up many shots on goal either and has moved into first place (shots against) in that category. Last weekend, the Odessa Jackalopes combined for 25 shots on goal in the two games.

Forwards Hampus Gustafsson and Clint Carlisle have combined for 10 goals in their last five games, while TJ Sarcona, who earned the South Division playoff of the week this week) has six points in his last five outings.

It has not been a good start for their opponents the Corpus Christi IceRays who have just two wins and six points (two overtime losses) in their last nine games. The IceRays lone recent victory came at the hands of the Wichita Falls Wildcats last Friday. Corpus Christi has just a handful of players (nine in total) returning from last year's team that missed the playoffs on the final weekend of the regular season.

Fans can tune into the action of both games on ESPN1440, www.amarillobulls.com, beginning 15 minutes before the puck is dropped with pre-game coverage from host Denis J. Puska. The puck drop follows at 7 pm on Saturday and 3 pm on Sunday. The games are also available on Pay-Per-View courtesy of Fast Hockey and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the games.

One week from today hockey is back at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center when the Amarillo Bulls host the Texas Tornado in the start of a two game series. Friday's game is `Pink It Out Night' and fans can buy a pink bulls t-shirt with proceeds benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness. Fans are also encourage to wear pink to the game. There will be a Halloween Costume Contest on Saturday night's game.

Tickets are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Suite 101, in the Amarillo Building, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets. For further information on Group Rates, Flex Packs or Birthday Party Packages, please call the Bulls Office at 806-242-1122.
