February 10, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton provided an injury update on Monday for the following players: Devin Steffler, Michael Farren, Matthew Wedman, Nolan Foote, Liam Kindree and Sean Comrie.
The Rockets have lost a total of 113 man-games due to injury and illness this season.
"We hope this run of serious injuries is coming to an end," said Hamilton. "Our belief in our team is still very strong and we have not used the injuries as an excuse. We need to be better and I fully expect us to be better.
"I would like to express our gratitude to the Major Midget Okanagan Rockets for their tremendous support. We have used four of our affiliate players from their team many times since early December."
Rilen Kovacevic, Dylan Wightman, Jackson DeSouza and Steel Quiring have collectively appeared in 24 games for the WHL Rockets this season. DeSouza and Quiring were both on the prairie road trip with the Rockets ahead of the holiday break.
Defenceman Devin Steffler is listed as day-to-day and is expected to return to the Rockets lineup on Wednesday against the Tri-City Americans.
Forward Michael Farren has been out with an upper-body injury, his status was upgraded from day-to-day to week-to-week last week. Farren could potentially make his return on Saturday against the Red Deer Rebels.
Rockets assistant captain Matthew Wedman suffered a lower-body injury on January 31st against the Spokane Chiefs, he could potentially return to the Rockets lineup this Wednesday against the Tri-City Americans.
Captain Nolan Foote has been listed as week-to-week with a lower-body injury since the January 10th game against the Kamloops Blazers. The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect made a visit to Tampa Bay last week to meet with their medical staff where he was evaluated and cleared to return to action. Foote could return to the Rockets lineup this Saturday against the Red Deer Rebels.
Liam Kindree is currently undergoing rehab for his surgically repaired broken collar bone that he suffered on January 11th against the Kamloops Blazers
Sean Comrie suffered a shoulder injury last week, he is scheduled to visit the orthopaedic surgeon next week and a decision will be made on whether or not he will undergo surgery.
Kelowna will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Tri-City Americans for Hat-Trick Wednesday at Prospera Place.
