Bruce Arena to Speak at Fourth Annual First XI Charity Kick-off Luncheon on March 28th

Washington, D.C. (February 13, 2006) - D.C. United and its non-profit arm, United for D.C., today announced details of the Fourth Annual First XI Charity Kick-off Luncheon, to be held on Tuesday, March 28. The event, a fundraiser for United for D.C., will take place at the Marriott at Metro Center. Former United skipper, and current head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team, Bruce Arena, will be featured as the keynote speaker, while coaches and players from the 2006 D.C. United squad will be introduced.

"We could not be more pleased to have Bruce Arena headline this year's luncheon," said Catherine Marquette, Executive Director of United for D.C. and Community Relations Director of D.C. United. "Bruce has such a history with the club; he's the perfect individual to speak on D.C. United's "Decade of Passion" and the upcoming World Cup and the US National Team's participation. We hope that our fans will come out, as they always have, to kick off the 2006 D.C. United season with us at this event."

Presenting and supporting sponsorships are available for $3,000 and $1,500, respectively. Both allow for recognition on all future press releases, website postings, e-newsletter communication pieces and luncheon materials. Each sponsorship includes a table at the luncheon for nine attendees, who will be paired with a player or coach, while the presenting sponsorship also allows for a representative from the organization to address the crowd.

Additionally, tables are available for $750 each, which allows for nine individuals to sit with a player or coach during the event. Individual spots are available for $90 per person. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed under the law. United for D.C. will also host a silent auction with items from D.C. United, other teams across Major League Soccer and other sports teams and places of business.

The event will be emcee-ed by Dave Johnson, "the voice of D.C. United," and Russ Thaler of Comcast SportsNet. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. on March 28, with lunch set for 12 noon.
