Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians, in conjunction with the International League, today announced right-hander J.T. Brubaker as the IL Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 30-Aug. 5. Brubaker went 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA (1 ER/15.0 IP) in two road starts to earn the award.

The 24-year-old righty continued his home state dominance in consecutive starts at Columbus and Toledo. On July 30 at Huntington Park, he mastered the Clippers with 7.0 innings of one-run ball, scattering seven hits with eight strikeouts. He followed that outing with an 8.0-inning masterpiece at Toledo's Fifth Third Field, holding the Mud Hens to three hits with six punchouts. He did not walk a single batter in either start.

Brubaker led the IL in innings pitched (15.0) and was second in strikeouts (14) for the week. His 0.67 WHIP between both starts was the lowest mark by any pitcher in Triple-A to have made multiple starts during the week.

In 12 road starts this season between Indianapolis (10) and Double-A Altoona (2), Brubaker is 5-2 with a 2.06 ERA (16 ER/70.0 IP). He has made five starts in his native Ohio this year, as well, going 1-0 with a 1.21 ERA (4 ER/29.2 IP) and 32 strikeouts against just five walks.

He has made 17 starts for Indy, posting a 7-3 record and 3.24 ERA (34 ER/94.1 IP), the sixth-lowest ERA among league qualifiers.

The weekly honor is the second of Brubaker's professional career, the other coming with Short-Season A West Virginia on July 27, 2015.

Indy has many Pitcher/Player of the Week winners in 2018; Nick Kingham won the IL Pitcher of the Week Award on April 16 and June 18, Kevin Newman was named IL Player of the Week on May 14 and Brandon Waddell won the IL Pitcher of the Week Award on July 16.
