SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs fans and SAAB helped raise money for the Salvation Army this season with a special Christmas in July promotion, featuring specialty Christmas-themed jerseys. Christmas in July took place Thursday, July 19th at NBT Bank Stadium.

The Chiefs wore the Christmas-themed jerseys during the game that day and those jerseys were auctioned off to help raise money for the Salvation Army. Jerseys were auctioned off at the stadium during the game that day, as well as online. All the jerseys were autographed for the fans that won them. The in-stadium and online auction raised a total of $1,755.00 for the Salvation Army.

"Christmas in July is a great promotion because we are able to partner with great companies like SAAB to support an amazing organization in our community, like the Salvation Army," said Jason Smorol, general manager. "Jersey auctions are a fun, unique way that we are able to raise money and give back to those in need. The Chiefs and Minor League Baseball are all about supporting our local community, and this is a fantastic way to do that. I'm thankful we have generous local corporate sponsors like SAAB to make these events happen."

In addition to the money raised by the jersey auction, the Salvation Army was able to raise even more money with their iconic red kettles located around the stadium entrance that evening.

The Syracuse Chiefs have held four other specialty jersey auctions so far this season. The jerseys include:

- Scarecrow jersey on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Night - May 12th to benefit the Upstate Foundation

- "Devices" jersey on Salute to the Brannock Device Night - May 31st to benefit Operation Walk

- Star Wars jersey on Star Wars Night - July 21st to benefit Charity for Children

- SkyChiefs Throwback jersey on Wall of Fame Day - July 22nd to benefit the Loretto Foundation

Overall, the jersey auctions have raised approximately $10,000.00 for the different organizations in the Central New York community this year.
