SALT LAKE CITY (August 27, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has activated infielder Matt Brown from the Temporary Inactive List as he has returned from winning a bronze medal with Team USA in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Brown, 25, appeared in all nine games for Team USA in Beijing, hitting .281 with three doubles, two home runs and a team-high 10 RBI. He has appeared in 93 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .326 with 32 doubles, four triples, 21 home runs, 67 RBI and four stolen bases. He was recently named to the 2008 All-PCL Team after being named PCL Top Star of the 2008 Pacific Coast League All-Star Game. He earned PCL Batter of the Week on April 14, Angels' Minor League Player of the Month in April, and was also selected to participate in the 2008 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby. In five games with the Angels this season, Brown owns a 0.77 batting average with one double and two RBI. The Bellevue, Wash. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2001 draft.

The 80-58 Salt Lake Bees continue the team's final regular season road trip tonight against the Portland Beavers at 8:05 p.m. and are just one win away from clinching the Pacific North Division title.
