COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Pacific Coast League today announced Shane Loux of the Salt Lake Bees as the 2008 PCL Pitcher of the Year, an honor annually chosen by the League's managers and media representatives in recognition of a player's outstanding achievement on the mound.
Loux, a 28-year-old Gilbert, Arizona native, holds a record of 12-and-6 with a 3.98 ERA. His twelve wins have him in a tie for the league lead and his 3.98 ERA is currently the fifth best in the league. The right-hander is currently in the major leagues after being recalled by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on August 4th. He is currently 0-and-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 4 relief appearances for the Angels.
The pitcher of the year award comes two days after Loux was named the top right-handed pitcher on the 2008 All-PCL team.
Other players receiving votes for the award were Jason Johnson of Las Vegas and Frankie De La Cruz of Albuquerque.
