Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.-On assignment from the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals, winger Paul Brown made the most of his ice time in Rockford with the IceHogs on Friday. Brown and his linemates, Mike Doyle and Robin Big Snake, combined for 3g-6a-9pts in the Hogs 5-3 win over the Bloomington PrairieThunder at the Rockford MetroCentre.
It took the line just 20 seconds to get the scoring started. Brown knocked in his first goal with the IceHogs off of a Doyle rebound past Bloomington goalie Steffan Braunlich. The Thunder got the goal back, however, when defenseman Jarad Bourassa blasted home his third tally of the campaign, beating Frederic Cloutier at 6:45.
After over 20 minutes of scoreless hockey, the two teams combined for three goals in just over two minutes. Winger Jesse Bennefield started the scoring binge at 6:49, wrapping in his 10th of the season past Braunlich. Brown hammered home his second of the night at the 8:55 mark off of a perfect feed from Big Snake, making the score 3-1. Bloomington chopped the lead back down to a goal after winger Tyler Rennette wripped in his fifth lamp lighter at 8:55 of the second period.
In the third period, Rockford broke the game open with a pair of markers 43 seconds apart. Doyle was on the receiving end this time of another Big Snake set-up at 3:01 before center Bryce Cockburn blasted in his second goal of the season at 3:44. The PrairieThunder took a stab at a comeback when Brad Thompson potted the Thunder's third goal of the night at 14:07. That was all that Bloomington could manage as Rockford held them off the board the rest of the way.
Cloutier earned his 13th win of the season after making 30 saves. Braunlich kept out 21 Rockford shots but was given the loss. Both teams failed to score on the power play.
Next Home Game: Saturday, Jan. 6 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Wings mix it up once again at the MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs Fleece Stadium Blanket from Lonnie's Carpet Max.
CLOUTIER RECALLED BY MILWAUKEE
IceHogs goalie Frederic Cloutier will join IceHogs winger Chaz Johnson on the Milwaukee Admirals, as the Hogs goalie was loaned following Rockford's 5-3 win over Bloomington on Friday. The AHL call-up is Cloutier's third of the season and second to Milwaukee.
In his previous stint in Milwaukee in November, Cloutier appeared in three games for the Admirals and had a record of 1-1-0 with a 3.18 goals against average and a .872 save percentage. Cloutier was also called-up to the Chicago Wolves earlier in the season.
