Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Former Cedar Rapids RoughRider Kevin Brooks has rejoined the team as an assistant coach, the RoughRiders announced today.
"His experience as both a player and a coach makes Kevin a very valuable addition to our staff," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson.
Brooks, who is also the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena's Hockey Director, played for the RoughRiders from 2001-03, scoring 35 goals and totaling 72 points in 118 career games. In 2001-02 he finished second on the team in goals (21) and points (46) and was named the Riders' Rookie of the Year. The following season, the Stow, Massachusetts, native captained the team and was named Fans' Favorite Player.
After departing Cedar Rapids, Brooks played for Providence College and Curry College before injury forced his retirement.
Brooks began his coaching career in his home state with the Walpole Express. After a two-year stint with the Express, he returned to Cedar Rapids in April.
