Broncos Nip WhiteWings in Middle Game of Series

Harlingen, TX-The Laredo Broncos used a 3 run 6th inning to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday night in Harlingen. The Broncos continue of their short 3 game trip with the finale of a 3 game series with the WhiteWings on Friday night. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The WhiteWings would jump out to the early lead in the 1st inning. With 1 out Amadeo Zazueta was hit by a pitch and then went to 2nd on a single by David Cardona. Ryan Fox then doubled scoring Zazueta and advancing Cardona to 3rd. Joel Gonzalez would then hit a 2 run single scoring both Cardona and Fox as Harlingen led 3-0.

The Broncos would get on the board in the 3rd inning. With 1 out Edgard Clemente walked and went to 3rd on a fielding error by first baseman Trey Hendricks on a ball that Dwayne White was safe on at 1st. Arnoldo Ponce would then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Clemente and making the score 3-1.

The Broncos would finally bust through in the 6th inning against WhiteWings starter Bryan Herrera. Luany Sanchez led off with a single. Edgard Clemente then hit a single of his own, and the ball got by left fielder David Cardona allowing both runners to move up to 2nd and 3rd. Dwayne White followed with a strike out, but it was dropped 3rd strike and Harlingen catcher Carl Johnson opted to throw to 3rd to get Sanchez but Sanchez made it back allowing the bases to be loaded. After a pop out, Matt Imwalle hit a 2 run double scoring Sanchez and Clemente. White was thrown out at 3rd after he made too wide of a turn. Ben Tinius followed with a rbi single scoring Tinius and giving the Broncos a 4-3 lead.

Dan Sausville would leave the game after 6 innings of work in line for the win. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He walked 2 batters and struck out 4. Rusty Jones would come in for the Broncos. Jones would pitch 2 scoreless innings, and Laredo would not score in their half of the 9th as David Watkins came in to pick up the save.

With 1 out in the inning, David Cardona hit a triple to put the tying run 90 feet away from scoring. Watkins would then strike out Ryan Fox looking. Joel Gonzalez would then walk to putting the winning run on base as well. Trey Hendricks would strike out looking to end the game, as the Broncos held on for the 4-3 victory.

The Broncos scored 4 runs on 8 hits and committed 1 error, while the WhiteWings scored 3 runs on 12 hits and committed 3 errors.

The Broncos improve to 35-39 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Friday when they play game 3 of a 3 game series against the Harlingen WhiteWings in Harlingen at 7:05.
