Amarillo Dillas News Release


LAREDO, TX - Despite two early runs, the Amarillo Dillas couldn't continue to score against the Laredo Broncos on Wednesday night as the Broncos defeated the Dillas 12-3 at Veteran's Field in front of 1,502 fans.

Dillas starter Eric Pierzchala (0-1) went five innings but allowed five runs and four hits while striking out one and walking six. Broncos starter Ramesis Rosa (1-1) got his first professional win as he went six and two-thirds innings, gave up nine hits but only three runs while walking two and striking out three.

Amarillo took an early lead in the first as Ryan Crespi singled, Justin Wenger singled, Gary Schneidmiller walked to load the bases while Jack Chapman singled to left field to score Crespi and Wenger for a 2-0 lead.

Laredo would take the lead in the third on two RBI and a run scored on a pass ball for a one-run lead. Luis Ramos hit a two-run homerun in the fourth to give the Broncos a 5-2 lead.

The Dillas would come back with a run in the top of the fifth as Gary Schneidmiller grounded out but scored Carlos Figueroa from third to cut the lead to two. Laredo would add two more runs in the sixth on RBI by Arnoldo Ponce and Hector Lebron to take a 7-3 lead.

Laredo scored five more runs in the eighth including a two-run blast by Edgard Clemente for a 12-3 Broncos lead, which would hold through the remainder of the game.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 20-21 on the second-half of the season and 46-45 overall. Thursday, the Dillas will take on the Broncos for the final game of a four-game series at 7:35 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 7:20 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
