Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON, MA -RHP John Boker became the first Rox pitcher to earn two victories as he tossed six innings of two-hit baseball and 3B Mike Torres delivered two hits for the Rox including an RBI triple to lead the Rox over the Nashua Pride 5-4 at Campanelli Stadium before 2,697 fans. Nashua committed four errors in the contest including three in the fifth inning, as Brockton scored the tying and go-ahead runs against starter LHP Mark Hamilton. LF Guye Senjem finished with two hits, both doubles, and had 12 hits in 27 AB, 2 HR, and 5 RBI during the opening homestand. The Rox took two of three from the Pride and won their last two games of the homestand, starting 4-3.

Senjem drove home a run in the first on a fielders' choice to give the Rox the early lead. Boker allowed just one baserunner through the first two innings, but Nashua scored three runs in the top of the third. 2B Tom Creighton drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly and a 1B Jake Daubert error allowed two more runs (unearned) to score and the Pride had the lead at 3-1.

In the fifth, 2B Mike Scanzano reached on an error and scored on an RBI triple off the bat of Torres. Two batters later, Senjem hit a grounder to third that 3B Andy Dillard bobbled and threw past the first baseman, allowing the go-ahead run to score for Brockton. The Rox added a run in the sixth on a Scanzano sac fly. In the ninth, Scanzano preserved the second straight save for RHP Jason Wylie and the win for the Rox when he fielded a slow roller with his glove and used the glove to flip the ball to Daubert for the final out of the game.

The Rox start a seven-game road trip tomorrow in Augusta, NJ against the Sussex Skyhawks (3-4). All games can be heard on WBET 1460 AM and www.brocktonrox.com starting 15 minutes prior to the first pitch.
