Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA--- The Brockton Rox came rolling into Hanover Insurance Park this evening winners of two straight, and will leave winners of three in a row. They down Worcester tonight 7-0 behind tall right-hander Fraser Robinson (1-2) who hurled six shut out innings.
Dominic Ramos was only able to muster a single base-knock against the Tornadoes in the previous three game series, but he made that three game set a distant memory this evening. Ramos, three hits in all, began the ballgame with a ringing triple over the head of center fielder Carlos Sosa and scored when the next batter Chris Valencia recorded a productive ground ball out to the right side for an RBI. Keith Brachold's first of three doubles with two outs in the fourth became the eventual second Rox run when Melvin Falu singled behind him. A three run sixth, and a pair more for good measure in the top of the ninth were icing on the cake for the Rox, who have scored seven or more runs in each game of their current three game win streak.
Matt Weagle (1-3) picked up the loss allowing five runs in five and a third. The Worcester pen, PJ Thomas (0-1) and Josef Frias (1-0), were on the mound for two more runs (both unearned) over three and two thirds.
Every member of the starting line-up for Brockton had at least one hit. Bright spots for Worcester included two hit nights for second baseman Jeff LaHair and right fielder Heath Keel.
Wednesday night at 7:05 (pre game at 6:50 on WTAG) RHP Chris Farley (0-0) will make his second start, first in a home uniform at the HIP, against LHP Bryan Morse (0-0).
