August 4, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced that the club has agreed to terms with forward Brock Montgomery for the 2016-17 season.
"Brock is a team-first guy who will do whatever it takes for his team to win," Solar Bears head coach Anthony Noreen said. "He will help bring a physical edge and scoring presence every time he's on the ice."
Montgomery, 24, played in 40 games with the Fort Wayne Komets during the 2015-16 season, earning 13 points (5g-8a) and 24 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound forward previously suited up for Orlando during the 2014-15 season, where he racked up 37 points (13g-24a) and 73 penalty minutes in 58 games.
"Orlando is one of the greatest cities I've ever had the privilege of playing in," Montgomery said. "There are plenty of guys here who I'm already familiar with - so in a way it feels like I'm coming home - and our team has made some great additions in the offseason. I can't wait to get started."
In 149 career professional games with the Texas Stars, Idaho Steelheads, Orlando and Fort Wayne, the native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan has 74 points (27g-47a) and 123 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, Montgomery played major junior hockey for the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League, where he put up 119 points (65g-54a) and 328 penalty minutes in 243 games and helped the Ice capture the 2010-11 Ed Chynoweth Cup as league champions.
