
Britton Johnsen Joins NBA's Indiana Pacers

BOISE, ID- November 24, 2004- The Idaho Stampede, the Treasure Valley's professional basketball team, along with the Continental Basketball Association, announced today that forward Britton Johnsen has signed with the National Basketball Association's Indiana Pacers. The signing marks the league's first CBA-to-NBA call-up of the 2004-05 season.
"Britton is an intelligent athlete with a promising professional career. He is going to be missed and I wish him the best of luck in Indiana," said Idaho Stampede Head Coach Joe Wolf.
Johnsen, a 6'10, 210 lb. forward was averaging 19.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg for the Stampede prior to his NBA call-up. Johnsen spent the 2003-04 season with the NBA's Orlando Magic averaging 2.1 ppg and 2.3 rpg. Scoring a career-high eight points against the Portland Trailblazers on 3/20/04, also highlighted his 2003-04 season.
The 6'10 forward played collegiately for the University of Utah. Johnsen finished his collegiate career by being named 2001 & 2003 All-Mountain West Conference Second Team and the 2002 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. Johnsen is expected to join the Pacers for Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Stampede (1-1) will begin a three game homestand this Friday and Saturday, November 26 & 27, as they tip-off against the Great Lakes Storm for their home season opener.
