Brito, Salberg Named Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC -- The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Pensacola Pelicans INF Javier Brito and Sioux Falls Pheasants LHP Chris Salberg have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

In six games this past week, Brito batted .591 with two home runs, eight RBIs and nine runs scored. He banged out 13 hits and walked seven times to go along with a .714 on-base percentage and a .955 slugging percentage. The Venezuelan is hitting .353 on the year with five home runs and 26 runs driven in.

Salberg went 2-0 this past week with wins over Wichita and St. Paul. He fanned 10 batters in 15 innings pitched and had an earned run average of 1.20. The South Beloit, IL resident is having an outstanding season thus far having a perfect 7-0 record with a league-leading 1.71 ERA in 52 2/3 innings pitched.
